Fort Polk
(central
western Louisiana)
Located about 30
miles northwest of Ft. Polk, Toledo Bend
Lake offers places for fishing, camping,
boating on this 205,000 acre lake with
over 1,200 miles of shoreline
Located about 30
miles north of Ft. Polk on Hwy 171,
Hodges Gardens features beuatiful
gardens, a fishing lake, horseback
riding, hiking and biking trails, and
camping (RV, tent, and cabin).
Located 60 miles
northeast of Ft. Polk, Natchitoches
(pronounced Nac-i-tish) is the oldest
permanent settlement in the Louisiana
Purchase. Visit museums,
historic homes, cemeteries, restaurants,
and more! Don't forget to visit in
December for the Christmas Festival!
Located 15 miles
south of Ft. Polk, DeRidder was the home
of the first USO in the nation. The
building has a collection of memoribilia
and holds dances on the orginial wooden
floor.
Also in DeRidder,
this collection has over 3,000 dolls,
including rare, antiques, and collectable
dolls from all over the world.
